moving folders in Lightroom

hello all,

 

i started run out of space on drive lightroom images stored, , decided move folders external drive. created new folder on destination drive, , selected folders (each unique descriptive names), , dragged them new folder on new destination drive within library module. moved of folders, lightroom dropped of unique names of folders , listed in date-format, have in each folder see images are. there way unique names had gave folders? if not, i'm not impressed lightrooms way of handling moving folders.

wow, that’s second move-folders problem in many days.  least didn’t lose photos other person, ended folders named ok, without photos in them.  maybe started out using date format.

 

the best thing start on backup of photos , backup of lr catalog if have those.  otherwise, not sure tell you.  if photos still segregated same number of folders, start renaming them little little, @ least newer ones, , not care older ones.  if lr reorganized photos, harder recover from. 

 

what happened few folders weren’t moved?  there error stopped process of did stop it?

 

folders being renamed sounds sort of import process occurred, not dnd move in library. 

 

you dnded onto new folder in library.  how new folder available in lr dnd to?  you’d have have imported photos visible.  normal if had started using external drive photos, , decided move rest it. 

 

what kind of drive external 1 , how attached?
