Thread: How to get USB WiFi to connect BEFORE login?

just replaced wired ethernet ubuntu 10.04 system usb wifi. main access system remotely via vnc. former wired ethernet system boot , , remain on (gnome) login screen no local interaction required, lan connection enabling me access via vnc.

usb wifi, doesn't attempt connect until after log in, requiring local login before vnc access possible. when wifi connection succeeds announcement appears (for while) "over" desktop.

usb wifi driver realtek (actually, ethernet).

somewhere there's command or script being run after login gets wireless software attempt connection. i'd find way happen before login.

is usb set "connect automatically", , available users"?
