Thread: Trouble with wi-fi and wired internet sharing

hello everyone,

have ubuntu 11.10 running on gateway e4000 mini-pc, installed 2 wi-fi adapters (a realtek-based belkin usb adapter, , ralink-based linksys pci internal adapter), on-board wired ethernet adapter (intel-based). main internet connection pc comes in via wi-fi belkin adapter (it's wi-fi connection i'm using full consent owner of business downstairs me), i'd share internal linksys wi-fi adapter can use pc wi-fi repeater in area using separate ssid encryption (the original signal bit weak, belkin seems sensitive @ picking up), having internet connection, received belkin adapter, shared on wired ethernet adapter well.

tried set adapters accordingly (the belkin set "automatic (dhcp)", linksys set hotspot , set "shared other computers", , wired adapter set "shared other computers" well, didn't work. instead, kept getting connection indicator comes in upper right-hand corner of desktop below top status bar, showing connection name of "(none)", kept alternating with:

"(none)
connection established" and

"(none)
disconnected".

keep doing in endless loop after set mentioned. tried disabling , re-enabling linksys card hotspot, connection indicator came "(ryan-e-4000) - connection established" (ryan-e-4000 being system name ubuntu assigned linksys adapter default ssid), disconnects too, , same endless loop of "(none)" connection keeps going on in loop until go , delete network devices system setting menu , re-load them.

doing wrong or overlooking crucial step in setting of up? if here more knowledgeable lend me hand in getting of working properly, i'd indebted.

thanks,
ryan (misternuvistor)
