Overwhelmed: Do I need a Consultant? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

keeping short, on committee tasked bringing small non profit group's site 21st century. settled on joomla , still deciding on host--down inmotion , site ground. point, convinced handle change-over--right until took close @ joomla security checklist. then, became overwhelmed. have technical background, in networking , desktop/help desk support. i've next nothing in web matters, , have there fifteen years ago. i've set several popular cms on local linux machine on network, that's not same putting them on internet. being visually impaired, take me days work through checklist, , there possibility adaptive software may have issues configuration screens. editing ini files shouldn't issue.

so question if should hire security consultant make sure needs done done , done right? mistake looking @ myriad checklists on internet , not looking @ source first.

i think in cases whatever host choose able advise on "best" setup joomla. might run servers "tuned" joomla specifically.

many users on forum here hobbyists or business owners running website, , not have expertise consider high-end security aspects doing.

there plenty of expertise on forum volunteers here, many of web developers advanced knowledge of server requirements , advise in first instance.
