Thread: slow network - urgent (see explanation)
hey - urgent beause have send computer - overheats & firehazard - no joke, avoid hp laptops. anyway: need data off before replacement.
in short, network thoroughput reduced trickle. tho iperf flying (110mb/s), network transfers intolerably slow - 220kb/s slow.
know, have aphasia (a language challenge) bear me / give me slack.
long version: dark & stormy night. watched network speeds dwindle 1.2mb/s 30 steady, if kind of physical (cable?) decay. checked cable nope, not - checked lot of things, not that. suspect: virus (i know), or update. it's ubuntu 10.10 64bit same. again capable, i've peaked @ 80mb/s before, got 30mb/s steady (using ftp via cat5(?)/ethernet cable link 2 computers).
iperf flies, 110mb/s or something, again - problem - cannot break 250kb/s or whatever via ftp on network now. [/b] not sure happened.
can try? tell me various things can diagnose slow network - please - explicit & simple, don't kno wthat ubuntu.
have attached output of lshw post.
- again throw out because need quick, before warranty expires (christmas time).
merry december, y'all ;d
