Thread: about synaptic---help

hello all,

i've been trying install java6.

after using apt-get in teminal , got nothing turned synaptic. get:


e: malformed line 65 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
e: list of sources not read.
go repository dialog correct problem.
e: _cache->open() failed, please report.

closing error window closes synaptic, - can't check repository

, i've looked solution in forums , following answer:


in terminal:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

--

remove line (or uncomment it) added.



sudo apt-get update

--


did had been suggested

sudo: gedit/ect/apt/sources.list: command not found

hi daniel,

if copy/pasted terminal output there, problem no space between "gedit" , path, plus directory "etc", not "ect". should be

code:

gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
