dynamiclinkmanager.exe error - Solution! (Windows only)

hi,

after days of headscratching issue , scouring web answers coming short.  tried making sure enabled in firewall, reinstalling , various other things people suggested try nothing working.

so here issue, every time fired after effects cs6 when splash screen loading mediacore, crashed infamous dynamicklinkmanager.exe error.   on windows 7 sp1 64-bit.  weather solution works in 32-bit not know.  has fixed issue on laptop , main pc.  difference between 2 laptop win7 home premium , main pc windows 7 ultimate.

i came across post buried in internet had suggested remove codecs may stopping ae starting.  @ point willing try anything.

first thing needed have list of codecs see at.   found program , seems there many.  seemed going mammoth job.

so, thought, if enable/disable codecs @ instead of removing them.  googled , found program called installedcodec (v1.25) nirsoft.   link here ->  http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/installed_codec.html

grab gem of program now!

unzip desktop , run administrator.

i tried disabling not directshow codecs first, when didn't work disabled directshow ones after re-enabling previous.  nothing.

then, stumbled upon it...  in options there 'x64 mode' selected.  , program re-listed codecs.  time highlighted in orange.   (maybe 32-bit users outset reckong x64 mode may not work you).

i found highlighted codecs (5 of them in case) had reported 0 file length.

well, had 0 file length codecs before enabled x64 bit mode , had disabled no effect.  noticed in 64-bit mode of 0 length codecs had file lengths in 32-bit mode.   hmmmm.

anyway, multi-selected highlighted codecs , disabled them.

fired ae , bingo !  in !     yes !!

ok breathe...  codec ?    starts funny.  because intention re-enable 5 disabled codecs had , them disable them 1 1 until ae crashed again.   re-enabled 5 , fired ae.   ae fired perfectly.   whaa???

fluke maybe ?   quit installedcodec, ran ae few more times , well.

went main pc , did same procedure.  ae working on computer too.    so.. don't ask me explain it, or if ae fall on over next reboot or what, know have 2 working ae cs6's on both computers.

if solution works else i'm happy have helped out because starting frustrate me big-time.

let me know if works you.

awesome! thank troubleshooting this... had same problem on windows 7 x64 while trying install photoshop cc adobe's new "creative cloud". got 40% through install needed me close "adobe photoshop lightroom" , "dynamiclinkmanager.exe", select "retry" continue install. sure enough, there no "dynamiclinkmanager.exe" anywhere in task manager process list adobe support page believe.

i downloaded "installedcodec" program suggested above, ran , sorted "file size" column 0 byte codecs. found 3 (type: directshow filter) installed on system , disabled them: line 21 decoder, overlay mixer, overlay mixer2

then clicked "retry" in creative cloud application, , installation continued!
