Thread: grub2 much slower than legacy on USB stick
hi!
described here http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/he.../msg00042.html , here http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/he.../msg00006.html , see worse load performance grub2 grub 1 (aka grub legacy).
formatted usb key , installed grub2 described here: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/install...-ubuntu-linux/
(i did under ubuntu 11.10)
added riplinux 13.5 boot menu. booting takes 3-4 minutes. (tried 2 different pcs).
mirrored on test usb stick older usb stick had has grub4dos 0.4.4. had riplinux 13.5 on it, , boots in 30-40 seconds.
tried fat32 , ntfs, in both cases grub2 slow.
else had such experience?
idea do?
if no solution, i'll use grub4dos (with ntfs), works.
help,
david
ps: grub4dos values bad, usb key can read @ 30 mb/s, riplinux image 120 mb should loaded in 4-5 seconds.
