Thread: 11.10 - No Ip adress port connection

hi,

have in hands work in c language needs connection especific ip adress , specific port, server created teacher.

have windows 7 64 bits, , use virtual box program create virtual machine of ubuntu 11.10 64 bits.

when on terminal: "telnet "xxx.xxx.xxx.xx port"

shows: trying connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xx...

, nothing more happens. teacher says if connection maded should shows this:

trying xxx.xxx.xxx.xx...
connected xxx.xxx.xxx.xx.
escape character '^]'.
connection closed foreign host.

have connection internet (http ports)

tried add exceptions firewall making this:


ufw allow port

problem still there

if can ping machine either machine not listening on port 22 or blocked either on machine or on way it.

there other services on machine can check regular telnet , ftp or web ensure ports re open?
