Thread: XP not recognised by Ubuntu 11.10 Live CD (nor install)

i starting xp laptop , aim install ubuntu 11.10 dual boot. however, live cd 11.10 not recognise existing xp.

in ubuntu live session, xp , files not indicated, , when proceed install process, option offered 'this computer has no detected operating system, do' (then, erase?, or else?)

maybe there xp installation odd (or ubuntu 11.10??)

using xp , no other os on machine because previous installs of ubuntu 11.10 on machine have led problems grub menu (xp missing.....) used ubuntu 11.10 in @ time multiboot machine, xp , ubuntu 10.04.3 (and 11.10, when problems seen). no grub menu or xp recognition problems seen when using ubuntu 10.04.3 on machine. ubuntu 11.10

lubuntu live cd 11.10 same thing, not see xp os.

ubuntu 11.04 live cd works ok, live session mounts xp no apparent problem , install process offers install alongside 'xp' evidently recognised.

has installed 11.10 on xp machine , found xp recognised them?

can find little apparent issue. find hard believe there possibly few xp-ubuntu 11.10 situations or alternatively few 11.10 installs on machines xp existing nobody has bumped this. or odd own machine or xp whatever?

tia

during install when choose something else see windows partition(s)?
