reason writing ask how set proxy globally -- using system settings -> network?! seems broken! if not, doing wrong? it's bit tedious set proxy firefox, , other stuffs, one-by-one...

i've had problems well. solution me install dconf-tools:
then run editor:code:sudo apt-get install dconf-tools
navigate system -> proxy. set mode manual, , proxies need. set http proxy, , left others blank 0 in port field.code:dconf-editor
if did upgrade, , have older version of firefox or chrome installed, these may still use gconf method of accessing proxy information, in case running:
and configuring proxies there might help.code:gconf-tools
