Thread: Global proxy setting

hello all!
ubuntu, after long affair debian testing, , bit of flirt fedora. wanted try new unity, despite many complains. really, not think worse gnome 3 (at least experience fedora)! however, entitled have opinion!

reason writing ask how set proxy globally -- using system settings -> network?! seems broken! if not, doing wrong? it's bit tedious set proxy firefox, , other stuffs, one-by-one...

best,
pm

i've had problems well. solution me install dconf-tools:

code:
sudo apt-get install dconf-tools
then run editor:

code:
dconf-editor
navigate system -> proxy. set mode manual, , proxies need. set http proxy, , left others blank 0 in port field.

if did upgrade, , have older version of firefox or chrome installed, these may still use gconf method of accessing proxy information, in case running:

code:
gconf-tools
and configuring proxies there might help.
