Illustrator vs. Photoshop

i familiar difference between vector , pixel graphics, wonder why choose in illustrator vs. photoshop.  seems there things can in both applications use may creating business card, wonder why choose use illustrator vs. photoshop or vice versa.  can shine light on me.  creating first business card , have rough idea of want graphic on card , rest simple lines , text.  seems literally same result regardless application choose use particular project.
