Thread: Best Language for Ubuntu GUI Apps?


this broad, basic question.
i'm curious. language apps rhythmbox, libreoffice, supertux, of standard issue ubuntu/linux programs written in?
i'm wondering because i'd write couple of own programs. want them gui, have reasonably polished appearance, , work ubuntu in gnome.
language best writing good-looking, solid gui programs ubuntu?

there no such thing best. there 3 major gui toolkits available linux: qt, gtk+, wxwidgets.

there many languages have ability use these toolkits.
primary ones people use are: c++, python, c

there programs written in haskell. http://xmonad.org
there perlqt if choose use it.
off top of head can't come ruby projects sure there some.
there c# mono

pick poison , go forth...
