Thread: wifi connectivity issue 11.10 asus 1201n
hi folks,
computer : asus 1201n
ubuntu : 11.10 32bit desktop
have annoying wifi problem not seem go away. (each time upgrade version of ubuntu comes right back)
wifi connect wpa/wpa2 network. when not load webpages (the browser declares sites not responding fast enough).
in last test when attempted connect wep -- not connect @ all, network manager attempted connect on , on , repeatedly asked me password.
may worth noting trying share connection macbook has internet sharing turned on. have tested connection no password , not connect either.
ipod touch connects no problem (to above networks)
whats confusing me this:
few months ago when running 11.04 downloaded , installed compatdrivers. blacklisted computers native mod "r8192se_pci"s
, added compat mod "rtl8192se" /etc/modules.
when run lsmod driver in use called "rtl812se" (which same name driver installed manually in 11.04)
thought perhaps 11.10 not using native drivers because of edits /etc/modules , /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf in 11.04
undid changes (deleted blacklist , addtion /etc/modules)
after restart result of small test no wifi @ all. no signal nothing. when ran command "modprobe rtl819se" wifi signal.
ubuntu still running old driver installed in 11.04?
why not using new drivers baked 11.10 (and said work realtek card?)
when run lsmod see following

makes me think indeed running current native driver 11.10
mystifies me no driver loads unless keep "rtl8192se" in /etc/modules
or run modprobe manually
i'm confused , possibly totally off track.
appreciated.
here lot of code (possibly overkill -- hey! better more less)
these requested of me last time had problems wifi, i'm putting them again -- ran them after failing connect macbook internet sharing connection (essid: kali)
