Thread: Blacklisting Nouveau Driver...
hi, everyone...
right i'm working on sony vaio's graphics situation. remembering trouble had trying install , configure proprietary/recommended graphics driver first time, tried out default (nouveau) driver see if minimal graphics on machine. realized sites facebook , youtube causing display freeze (everything cursor, is) , decided can't live it. asking around amongst friends, "graphics driver" seems consensus what's wrong it. looking on last thread started on topic (i've had reinstall os since then, , here are) noticed advice didn't bother trying first time, blacklisting nouveau driver before trying install proprietary, way in former installed can interfere installation of latter. went searching , found this site, seems relevant. thought i'd ask few questions before diving in, though. are,
- when comes sony vaio laptop nvidia corporation gt218 [geforce 310m] (rev a2) graphics card, above site's advice prove relevant and/or useful?
- if so, there special note in way of editing blacklist.conf file? in other words, can cut , paste recommended text onto end of file old way, or need spaces, lines (using "enter" key) hash-marks or other symbols, in order recognized , interpreted system?
information can provide. =)
