Thread: NON COMMERCIAL alternative to Keryx for OFFLINE linux users???

keryx great, free project allowed add , update packages on offline machine via usb drive.

however, seems has gone commercial site's blog , download links broken... jumping through redirect hoops, download, read: "try out free 30 days." , 404 error.

great while lasted , had run. while may have 1.0 .deb what's next?

suggested trying muon muon not released 'til 10.10 maverick. still have 8.04 @ home , trying 10.04 usb boot on public computer. suggested using synaptic in installation of 8.04, never synaptic package manager install manually downloaded packages. 1 reason sticking long term support releases offline @ home.

plan go 12.04 around sep 2012, major bugs have been worked out...

keryx did work nicely in usb drive, downloaded fixes/updates, new package lists, install choices, etc. "project" machine , installed them native package manager, automagically. no going through each package gdebi, etc. , finding out dependencies not satisfied.

i'm sure in economy , in less fortunate areas of world, there many have offline machines. hope solution can developed lives in repositories, non commercial developer...

http://aptoncd.sourceforge.net/
(aptoncd can found in ubuntu's repositories too.)
