Thread: Install issues


hi, have searched fora , read numerous guides available before giving , posting on here. have ibook g4 12" 1.42ghz processor running osx 10.4.11, built in 2005.

trying install ubuntu onto , downloaded iso file ubuntu site. followed instructions burn cd installation , when failed followed instructions , created usb stick. both of these procedures uncomplicated.

problem has come when trying install ibook. cd not recognised when switch on there no invitation set , install ubuntu. if press 'c' @ restart, nothing occurs. if go open firmware , type commands guide tells me @ point, fails recognise it. in all, cannot anywhere cd.

usb hold alt, or c or number of other key combinations have seen not single 1 facilitates me booting usb. eventual result process reverts opening os x.

try , ubuntu running have absolutely no idea how move here. grateful if tell me missing here , whether if installation difficult unlikely manage system when running. consider myself reasonably computer capable, although have not been involved coding @ point.

for ibook need powerpc version of ubuntu https://wiki.ubuntu.com/powerpcdownloads .

please @ instructions 11.04 , 11.10 there ibook specific info in there. if decide install 10.04 live cd, answer many of future queries.
