Thread: Shared Memory on my New Graphics Card

so, ran interesting yesterday when installing new graphics card. strange anomaly, guess say:

installed ati radeon 4350 (overclocked, haven't noticed difference. nor important). card has 512mb of dedicated memory, , as understand shouldn't use more that. have have 4gb of ram installed, , yes 4gb being used system.

here's things interesting. checked properties of new hardware , states has 512mb of dedicated memory, but also 1gb of shared memory. stated before, have 4gb of ram installed , reserved system. not sharing memory.

here's think: motherboard has nvidia integrated graphics 1gb of dedicated memory (see i'm going this?). hypothesis somehow new graphics card accessing unused memory of old integrated graphics.

honestly, have no clue what's going on, found interesting thing discuss. feedback nice, if say, "you're idiot."

i don't thin ati can touch ram nvidia. assuming information tool reading memory accurate, happening 1gb of shared memory not reserved, allocated dynamically. is, card using own 512mb , use more if needed (i.e. if doing intensive gaming). in mean time, system can take of 4gb if needs, hence 4gb reading.
