Thread: To Compiz or not to Compiz, that is the question.

hello,

i'm working on python project (which learning process b.t.w.).

put simply, making interface on desktop with, among other things, button triggering exposition of open windows.

i've got 2 options that:

1. use compiz
2. make own exposition

option 1 seems more sensible @ first, because don't have re-invent wheel. have 2 obstacles:

a. overlay scaled windows ("scale" it's called in compiz), above interface window (which has reserved space on screen x-lib). how can control size of compiz overlay?
b. want able highlight windows, need attention (because exposition replace task-bar altogether). can tweak compiz @ that? seems quite venture.

option 2 more work, i'd have more control on application. haven't seen whether thumbnail of window python xlib, presume it's possible.

find dilemma, seems pointless re-do compiz does, on other hand, it's hard integrate compiz , make want.

how proceed this?

i yourself. though reinventing wheel say, further detailed messing around , correcting afterwards.
