Simplifying/smoothing a vector shape... how?

is there way "simplify" existing vector shape layer somehow "averaging out" curves remove of unnecessary anchors possible?

for instance, simple sphere can 4 anchors. 1 i'm working has 100 anchors. vast majority of them useless, , make shape uneven upon close (zoom-in) inspection. if there option, perhaps 1 slider ever, allowed me "simplify" vector shape removing anchors , adjusting angles compensate, me great deal.

no, not really. try converting shape selection , shape. end shape has far fewer control points, won't perfect , you'll still have clean things bit, proably easier move 5 points try remove 96.
