Thread: Not sure how to characterize this problem...

ok, i'm happy change header on 1 if has better suggestion. anyway, i'm running ubuntu 11.04 in unity 2d, have encountered issue in earlier versions well. doesn't happen enough, when drives me insane. try describe best can.

issue occurs whenever either trying drag few lines of text different position in document, or, if accidentally attempt drag item in list of program. example, let's viewing photos in program such fotoxx. click open image, , presented list of images in directory. select one, whatever reason move cursor before can hit enter or double click, seem attempting drag 1 of images in list position higher or lower in list. or, happened, working on document in gedit , attempted drag 2 lines paragraph. happens lose use of system. cursor, basic arrow point, becomes fist ( when have grabbed , dragging ) , keyboard , click buttons become useless. it's permanently dragging. can't click anything. can't select or deselect anything. can't type anything. can't select application. can't log out or restart. remedy hold down power key until machines shuts down entirely , lose working on @ time. ideas why happening, or ideas how out of short of shutting down, appreciated.

eta: should have explained better. system not freeze in traditional sense. can still move fist / cursor on screen, , processes still running in other applications continue run without interruption. it's input , current program spit bit.

no idea how man, might suggest changing description "dragging items causes mouse , keyboard problem" or that. might try 11.10 instead of 11.04. i've heard there lots of bug fixes in unity...
