Thread: Port 4001 held open by squid proxy

running zenmap, shows

"4001/tcp open http-proxy squid webproxy"

need port service.

not using squid, did complete removal in synaptic , rebooted.

zenmap still gave same above results.

question is, how can close port available other service?

(also, if knows how open zenmap menu administrator, obliged information.)

if understand risks of running program admin/root, can appending "gksudo" command. right click menu , clickk on edit menu, navigate program launcher , dubble click, append gksudo command.

far closing port goes, why need close program open it? not make sence. more 1 program can use given port @ time.
