Thread: Is unplugging the antenna bad?

this may bit unrelated ubuntu, closest place know ask question.

when using wlan card in computer external antenna, bad idea unplug antenna while using interface? and, more common case, bad idea bring wlan interface (configured ssid , psk) no antenna attached card?

may want use alix box in diverse network environments , prefer linux finding way network automatically, i. e. without preparing network configuration manually before changing locations (and unplugging antenna because i'm going wired network). , changing networks bit uncomfortable because have network access box only.

if matters, card compex wlm54g 23db mini-pci atheros chipset.

no , no, antenna merely gives signal strength, without strength though minimal. can take off , re-attach whilst running, change 3 5 9 15 30dbi , omni directional directional running fine.

cheers
