Thread: secure local thunderbird email storage?

hi,

i'm considering trying store local email in secure way - ie 'the user' (ie me) has authenticate him/herself before gaining access.

use thunderbird, first thought symlink ~/.thunderbird directory ~/private folder , follow instructions make folder encrypted.

however, figure making go alone, , seems sure others have done , have great solution for.

there solution storing email securely?

thanks,

max.

i'm not expert on posix linking don't think solution work. here reasoning.

symbolic link not share same inode, if symlinked them, encrypted symlinks stored email still available unencrypted @ inode. think need hardlink them, , don't think encrypting hardlink solve issue. need encrypt actual data in thunderbird directory.

more knowledgeable on subject feel free correct if it's wrong, understanding of situation.

hope helps.
