Thread: Ubuntu 11.10 cannot connect to wireless


hello all.

last week installed ubuntu 11.10 on friend's toshiba laptop replacement badly corrupted xp installation. went plan, , tested machine before giving her. when took home, unable connect wireless router.

had no trouble connecting (d-link) router when tested everything, , friend can connect internet if uses cable, appears router, echolife hg520s, got part of talktalk internet package.

connection present in wireless menu, can enter passkey, , appears trying connect, can't make final connection.

i'm new ubuntu i've run out of ideas, , appreciate help. thanks!

edit: should mention laptop , router in different town @ point, i'm not able @ settings right away.

im having same problem toshiba, have tried removing bcwml package , installing b43 firmware, no avail. ideas? wired connection works fine, wireless asks password infinitely tries connect, doesnt work, , asks password again.
