nvidia failed load kernal module
know simple 1 after 3 hours trying stuff stickys im afriad have ask help.

computer worked fine last year or today wont run games or play sounds port. on startup low graphics mode warning box saying cant load nvidia kernal module , no drivers avialble.

going admin/hardware drivers/it shows nivid accel graphics driver 'activated , in use'

plugs corect , mutes turned off - alsamixer confirms this

going admin/nvid xserver setting brings box saying 'you dont appear using nvis x driver - please edit x config file (just run nvidia-xconfig' root) , restart x server. ive done first part of sudo nvidia-xconfig , says backing up. dont know how restart x server (ive tried ctrl/alt/backspace). doesnt fix anything

tried downloading latest driver nvidia when try run in terminal window (from copy on desktop of .run file) says must run root - dont know means sorry. running without terminal woindow doesnt appear anything.

ive taken computer overseas full of films watch , have no tv here - !

acer aspire revo basic 1 nvidia ion built in, running ubuntu 10.04 lts , please note revo not on internet -anything want put onto has downloaded on windows laptop , moved across memory stick.

incidentally, think wireless on revo has gone down too, or maybe neighbors have turned off routers ?!? - connected ?

note fine couple of days ago - maybe theres way revert setup ?

you can try askubuntu. 78 views isn't lot problem this, actually. should specify version of ubuntu running, , card have.

problem, think kernel update broke it. nvidia has lot of proprietary stuff, isn't updated new kernels should be. really, easiest thing data , reinstall. if you're using old version, advise use newer one.
