Thread: External keyboard completely disables integrated NumPad when unplugged
hi, guys.
using 10.04 lts kernel version 2.6.32-34-generic-pae. maybe 2 weeks or ago (no new kernels installed) when noticed strange behaviour. have notebook sony vaio keyboard has numpad. when @ home prefer using external usb keyboard (much more comfy; speedlink). have windows 7. both keyboards work perfect under windows. first started this:
- phase 1: keyboards (incl. numpads) work under ubuntu
- phase 2 (since approx. 2 weeks ago): turning off numpad (no matter on keyboard) turns on
- phase 3 (since approx. 1 week ago): numpad on laptop works when external keyboard plugged in
- phase 4 (since 3-4 days): numpad on laptop doesn't work @ under ubuntu (it works if deactivated, - can't type in numbers it, use plus, minus etc.)
mentioned above - don't have problems under win7.
if can help, please so, because need numpad (work plenty of numbers , using faster when typing)!
greetings,
rba
edit: ok, college of mine gave me suggestion problem might due settings of keyboard namely:
system->preferences->mouse keys->disable "pointer can controlled using keyboard"
worked charm. although doesn't explain phase 2 , phase 3 , fact have never touched setting before.if can still explain why happened, greatful.
