Thread: try to watch video file, only see green

hi,

when first boot ubuntu can watch video files no problem in program. seemingly out of try open video file , sound green screen video should be. reboot fixes this, after awhile happens again. doesn't happen while i'm watching video. may walk away computer couple hours, come , open video, , green screen. internet videos work (youtube, netflix.) happens video files on computer. happens file type, , happens in program (vlc, movie player, etc.)

weird... ideas?

have tried using vlc codec thing going on??
