at job got task of setting computers local library in town. ordinary internet kioskes done, library couple of machines restricted sites (library catalogue site , couple of other sites). way system works on these machines gdm autologins on profile custom session launches firefox (no desktop enviornment). upon restart, computer reset profile. firewall used block except sites on whitelist should have activated during boot (probably via scripts if need add new sites in future via ssh). i've started fiddling iptables can't seem figure out how make drop outbound traffic except webpages. scripts(preferably sh script), or if there gui iptables option allow sites on whitelist, apprechiated. need port 22 open can reach these machines through ssh. you might want use squid proxy instead of using iptables block websites since ip addresses of websites can change. easy way use opendns , block domains , whiteli...

i have series of 6 violin method books (kaleidoscopes violin) created in indesign cs2.    having upgraded indesign cs6, of eps files used in these books -- hundreds , hundreds of files -- unreadable program.  receive error message, "error encountered while reading tiff image. image may damaged or incompatible. resave image different settings , try again."   another user, ratgui, reported problem on february 2, 2013 (two months ago) , has received no response.  user's files music files, imported indesign cs4 (more recent mine).   needless say, there nothing wrong eps files, given every single 1 of them read correctly (and still read correctly) older, supposedly less-advanced version of indesign!  work-around save each image in png format (luckily sibelius exports png).  600-800 files, represents 3 or 4 full days of unnecessary work, , double number of images on hard drive.   the eps issue remarkably serious flaw in software package costs many ...

i have client wanted illustrator file given him in tif format able have layers available in software package such photoshop. exported file uncompressed tif format, ftp location. told me when opened it flattened 1 layer. right opened file sent in photoshop , 1 layer. tried open tif file in illustrator , flattened. complex file many layers. so, after researching , trying suggestions find, such ungrouping grouped exporting again, did nothing , verified color space same, didn't work when trying open exported tif illustrator. so, instead of wrestling big file created 2 layer file. 1 layer contains object, , other text, nothing complicated. tried exporting file tif; same results file flattened 1 layer both in photoshop , illustrator. way retain layers export psd file. so, how export illustrator file layers tif , retain layers? thank offered. tiffs don't contain layers. photoshop writes proprietary data tiff files maintian layers. export layered .psd, open in photoshop , save layere...
